Stackable mugs: carton savings, sizes and bulk order questions

Which retail and wholesale buyers do stackable mugs suit?

They suit retail and wholesale programs where shelf space and carton volume drive cost, such as supermarket housewares, gift sets and private label ranges. The 8 to 15 oz ceramic bodies stack in a stable column, so shelf footprint and shipping volume per unit both drop. Describe how the mugs will be displayed or stacked in your brief, because that decides the body and the packaging.

Do stackable mugs come in 15oz as well as 8oz and 11oz?

Yes. The stackable range covers 8oz (240ml), 11oz (330ml) and 15oz (450ml). Those are nominal capacities measured to the rim, so the usable fill sits a little lower and is checked on the physical sample. A 16oz or 20oz body belongs to our other mug ranges, not this stackable one, so tell us the target fill and we will quote the right line.

How much carton space does stacking save compared with standard mugs?

Stacking uses the hollow space inside each mug instead of shipping it empty, so more pieces fit per carton and per pallet and the freight cost per unit falls. The exact saving depends on body height, the inner tray and how many pieces you stack per carton, so we quote both stacked and individually packed options for your design.

Will the glaze wear where mugs rub against each other in a stack?

Wear at those points comes from friction between two fired surfaces, not from a weak glaze. Standard glazes are suitable for daily use, and for high-turn retail we recommend a felt or paper interlayer between stacked pieces, or a stackable inner tray that keeps rims and handles apart. We check the contact points on your physical sample before the run.

Can a full-wrap print still allow the mugs to stack?

Yes. Full-wrap print, logo print, color glaze and decal all run on these bodies. Because the rim and the foot carry the load in a stack, the print is planned inside the stacking band, and the printable zone is shown on the free digital mockup, which returns about one hour after a complete brief.

Does every color in a retail range need its own 500 pieces?

No, not when the body and decoration method match. Mixed designs and colors combine toward the 500 pcs tier, so a four-color retail range can run as one order instead of four. Sample orders can sit below the production minimum, which lets you sign off each colorway before the bulk run.

How do I check stack stability before approving a stackable mug sample?

Start with the free digital mockup, which shows shape, print placement and stacking clearance about one hour after a complete brief. Then approve a physical sample, shipped in 7 to 10 days after artwork sign-off, with the fee credited against your production order. Ask for the inner tray with that sample so you test the stack as it will ship.

What packaging keeps stacked mugs retail-ready and undamaged?

This stackable line offers a retail carton, a stackable inner tray and a gift box, with FSC certified board available on request. The stackable inner tray is the usual pick for shelf programs because it holds the column and keeps rims and handles apart. Packaging is sampled with the mugs in the same batch, so artwork and fit are approved together.

How long is the production run for stackable mugs after sample approval?

Production runs 30 to 45 days after sample approval, and sea freight adds about 30 days. August to November is the tightest capacity window, so a holiday program should be sampled and slotted before it fills. Dates are then set against the confirmed production schedule.

What does the quoted price per piece include for stackable mugs?

For a standard 11oz body with single-side print, standard inner tray and export carton, the indicative rate is $2.50 per piece at 500 pcs, FOB Liling, stepping to $2.20 at 3,000 and $2.00 at 10,000. That covers the free digital mockup and the pre-shipment photo QC report. Freight, duties, new molds, third-party testing and peak-season surcharges sit outside, and the incoterm is stated on the quotation.
