Mugs with lid: capacities, packing and order questions
Which capacities are available for mugs with lid?
Lidded bodies run in 8oz, 11oz, 15oz and 20oz, in ceramic, stoneware or bone china, and the lid is matched to the body opening rather than one size across the range. Capacity is nominal to the rim, so fill volume is confirmed on the approved sample before the 500-piece run.
When should a gift or hotel program choose mugs with lid over open mugs?
When the mug travels or waits in a room, a covered cup keeps dust and handling off the drink and reads as a gift item. Hotel in-room service and gift sets are the usual briefs here, shipping in travel-ready packaging from 500 pieces. Open mugs stay the simpler choice for cafe counter service.
Which decoration methods can I use on mugs with lid?
Logo print, full-wrap print, color glaze and decal are the four standard options, and artwork can wrap the whole body on a full-wrap print. Pantone references are matched to your reference and signed off on a physical sample, which is the acceptance standard for color, because a screen preview is not.
Can mixed designs share one 500-piece order for mugs with lid?
Yes, when the designs use the same body and a compatible decoration method, since mixed designs and colors combine toward the 500 pieces per design minimum. Keep one lid specification across the run so the lids stay interchangeable at packing. Sample orders can run below the 500-piece minimum.
What does the silicone-seal lid add to the unit price?
The lid is priced as its own component in the same offer as the body, so the published tiers of $2.50 at 500 pieces, $2.20 at 3,000 and $2.00 at 10,000 are the base for a standard 11oz mug with one-side print and export packaging, not a lidded total. Freight, duty and tooling sit outside.
Do I need a physical sample to approve the lid, or is the mockup enough?
The free mockup settles artwork and color placement, back about one hour after a complete brief. It cannot show fit or seal, so the physical sample is what you approve: it ships 7–10 days after artwork approval, and the fee is credited against the production order.
How is the fitted lid checked before the order ships?
Lid and body are matched as a pair at sampling, and that approved fit is what production repeats. The written QC plan covers in-process checks and a final inspection that includes the fitted lid, and a photo QC report is sent before the goods leave.
Do lidded mugs ship in hotel bulk packs or retail gift boxes?
Both formats are quoted. Inner trays and standard export cartons suit hotel bulk and back-of-house use, while gift boxes and retail cartons carry a gift or shelf program. FSC-certified board and printed sleeves are available on request, and the packing is sampled in the same batch as the mug, so fit is checked on the real piece.
Does the fitted lid add time to the 30–45 day production run?
The lid adds no separate production step. It is sampled with the body, so bulk still runs 30–45 days after sample approval. August to November is our tightest window, and sea freight adds about 30 days, so a hotel opening or gift launch is scheduled against the confirmed plan.
Which incoterm do you quote on mugs with lid orders?
FOB Liling is standard. CIF to your destination port or DDP can be quoted on request, and EXW Liling if you collect with your own forwarder. Every quotation names its incoterm, and the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin are issued to match it.
